COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

The College of Health Sciences aims to produce competent and compassionate health care providers, whose skills, knowledge and attitude are globally competitive. Also, it aims to produce a health care provider who could epitomize Christian values and virtues in the practice of their profession. The College offers Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology and Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science.

Program Offerings

The BSN is a four-year degree program consisting of general education and professional courses. Professional courses are threaded through from first year thru fourth year with emphasis on the nursing concepts with corresponding Related Learning Experiences (RLE). The BSN program provides an intensive nursing practicum that will refine further the nursing competencies to ensure achievement of the BSN program outcomes required of an entry level nurse.
The Goals and Objective

The BSN program aims to develop a professional nurse who is able to assume entry level positions in health facilities or community settings. The professional nurse is capable of providing safe, humane, quality and holistic care to individuals in varying age, gender and health-illness status; healthy or at-risk families; population groups; and community; singly or in collaboration with or other health care providers to promote health, prevent illness, restore health, alleviate suffering and provide end of life care. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates shall:

  • Apply knowledge of physical, social, natural and health sciences and humanities in the practice of nursing.
  • Provide safe, appropriate and holistic care to individuals, families, population groups, and community utilizing nursing process
  • Apply guidelines and principles of evidence-based practice in the delivery of care.
  • Practice nursing in accordance with existing laws, legal, ethical, and moral principles.
  • Communicate effectively in speaking, writing and presenting using culturallyappropriate language.
  • Report and document up-to-date client care accurately and comprehensively
  • Work effectively in collaboration with inter-, intra-, and multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
  • Practice beginning management and leadership skills using systems approach in the delivery of client care.
  • Conduct research with an experienced researcher.
  • Engage in lifelong learning with a passion to keep current with national and global developments in general, and nursing and health developments in particular.
  • Demonstrate responsible citizenship and pride in being a Filipino.
  • Apply techno-intelligent care systems and processes in health care delivery
  • Adopt the nursing core values in the practice of the profession.
  • Apply entrepreneurial skills in the delivery of nursing care.

The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology program aims to produce radiologic technologists who are imbued with 21st century skills and are competent to fulfill professional responsibilities in the following area: diagnostic and therapeutic imaging, radiation safety and protection, patient care, administration and management, education, research, entrepreneurship, and life-long learning. Graduates of BSRT shall:

  • Apply scientific knowledge, technical skills, and the proper work attitude and values necessary for the practice of Radiologic Technology;
  • Understand the scope of local and international professional ethical practice;
  • Promote the value of pursuing life-long learning;
  • Implement radiation safety and protection measures;
  • Demonstrate compassionate patient care;
  • Show beginning leadership, management, and entrepreneurial skills;
  • Engage in academic and research activities; and
  • Advocate love of country and service to the Filipino people.

The BS in Medical Laboratory Science program provides the students’ foundation in the fundamentals of medical laboratory science, scientific concepts and principles of the different laboratory analyses and determinations to develop skills in critically analyzing laboratory processes. It trains students to be globally competent and knowledgeable in the performance of laboratory test procedures and analyses which aids in the diagnosis, treatment of diseases and maintenance of health. The program also provides a profound training and updates on various laboratory screening and examinations, scientific research, instrumentations, and community related activities. The students are developed to become well-rounded medical laboratory scientists. Graduate of BSMLS shall:

  • Demonstrate technical competence in the performance of clinical laboratory tests in aid of diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases vis-à-vis biosafety and waste management;
  • Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills in the workplace;
  • Engage in the collection, analysis, and projection of health information for improving the health care management system;
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and ethical practice of the profession;
  • Apply research skills in relevant areas of Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science practice;
  • Participate in community-oriented activities.
  • Engage in life-long learning activities; and
  • Demonstrate effective teaching and communication skills.
