The College of Special Programs (CSP) offers to deserving students who are working during the day however deserving and interested to pursue their baccalaureate degree during night time and weekends. The programs under the CSP are:

Program Offerings

The ultimate objective of the Library and Information Science Program (BLIS) is to prepare students to their unique role in gathering, organizing and coordinating access to the best information sources for the knowledge-based organization they belong, as well as implementing standards for the ethical and appropriate use of information. A graduate of Library and Information Science program has the ability to:
  • Develop knowledge, skills and proficiency for effective and efficient services in the library with emphasis in the development and competencies in the practice of the profession;
  • Be proficient in the field of management, organization of information sources, information storage and retrieval, indexing and abstracting, building library collection and information sources and services applicable to various types of libraries and information centers;
  • Imbibe in oneself the importance of the profession in our society, particularly to the academic, business, research and other knowledge-based organization engaged in the promotion, preservation and use of information sources;
  • Develop professional competencies and practice the philosophy of librarianship and its significance for serving school, academic, public, special libraries and information centers;
  • Develop their attitudes, skills, and values to enhance their personal competencies needed in the practice of the profession in a multicultural environment;
  • Develop the proper character or traits needed to become a globally competitive efficient and effective librarian;
  • Inculcate into the value system the importance of Information Technology for man’s progress and quest for infinite information; and
  • Demonstrate an understanding of research techniques and methods of applying new knowledge as it becomes available.

This program outfits graduates in building and cultivating relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, other professionals and learning communities, advocating for Physical Education (PEd), being role models of integrity and professional excellence, as well as leaders in the service of education. A graduate of BPEd should be able to:
  • Apply scientific and evidence-based practices critical to the educational and learning processes;
  • Demonstrate skillful performance in a variety of physical activities;
  • Adapt performance to variety of physical activity settings;
  • Critically examine the curriculum and program, and enhance them necessarily;
  • Plan and implement safe and effective physical activity programs to address the needs of individual and groups in school and/or non-school settings;
  • Monitor and evaluate physical activity programs in school and/or non-school settings;
  • Use appropriate assessments in, and for student or client learning;
  • Use information, media and technology in pedagogy and for lifelong learning;
  • Demonstrate firm work/professional ethics;
  • Cultivate solidarity by working and dealing with/relating to others harmoniously;
  • Promote the advancement of the profession by making sense of and getting involved in current discourse that impact on the profession;

The Financial Management program prepares the graduates for various careers in financial management as well as in related fields, including but not limited to, corporate finance, investment management, banking credit, trust operation, insurance, foreign currency markets, money markets, capital markets, and other financial securities markets. The curriculum provides the graduate with knowledge financial theories, methodologies, and various analytical tools. It also promotes an outlook that is based primarily on ethics, market integrity, regulations, good governance and competitive global perspective, necessary for effective financial decision-making. The Marketing Management program prepares the graduate for careers in marketing, market research, advertising and public relations. The curriculum provides the graduate with both technical skills and competencies required in the field, but also the flexible mindset that is necessary to stay competitive in a constantly changing business environment. The Hospitality Management program will equip students with competencies that are needed to execute operational tasks and management functions in food production (culinary), accommodation, food and beverage service, tourism planning and product development, events planning, transportation services, travel and tour operations and other emerging sectors of hospitality and tourism industry. A graduate of BS in Hospitality Management should be able to:
  • Produce food products and services complying with enterprise standards;
  • Apply management skills in F & B service and operations;
  • Perform and provide full guest cycle services for front office;
  • Perform and maintain various housekeeping services for guest and facility operations; and
  • Plan and implement a risk management program to provide a safe and secure workplace;

The field of criminology is the study of crime and the various agencies of justice as they operate and react to crime, criminals and victims. It aims to provide the community with professionally competent and morally upright graduates who can deliver efficient and effective services in crime prevention, crime detection and investigation, law enforcement, public safety, custody and rehabilitation of offenders, criminal research among others. A graduate of BSC should be able to:
  • Conduct criminological research on crimes, crime causation, victims and offenders to include deviant behavior;
  • Internalize the concepts of human rights and the victim welfare;
  • Demonstrate competence and broad understanding in law enforcement administration, public safety and criminal justice;
  • Utilize criminalistics or forensic science in the investigation and detection of crime;
  • Apply the principles and jurisprudence of criminal law, evidence and criminal procedure; and
  • Ensure offenders rehabilitation, welfare, development, and re-integration to the community.

This is a program that includes the study of computing concepts and theories, algorithmic foundations and new developments in computing. The program prepares students to design and create algorithmically complex software and develop new and effective algorithms for solving computing problems. A Computer Science graduate prepares to become an IT professional and researcher, proficient in designing and developing computing solutions, specifically in terms of:
  • Application of fundamental computer concepts as problem solving skills;
  • Design and implementation of computer-based solutions;
  • Recognition and application of technical standards and interoperability;
  • Research in Computer Science related areas; and
  • Integration of knowledge learned in different areas of Computer Science.

The program prepares graduates to address various user needs involving the selection, development, application, integration and management of computing technologies within an organization. Moreover, BSIT graduates are expected to become globally competent, innovative, and socially and ethically responsible computing professionals engaged in lifelong learning endeavors. They are capable of contributing to the country’s national development goals. Hence, they should have the ability to:
  • Analyze complex problems, and identify and define the computing requirements needed to design an appropriate solution;
  • Apply computing and other knowledge domains to address real-world problems;
  • Design and develop computing solutions using a system-level perspective;
  • Utilize modern computing tool;
  • Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice;
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino;

TEACHERS EDUCATION PROGRAM

This program prepares teachers to become effective synthesizers of knowledge and efficient promoters and facilitators of learning in the light of their field of specialization and abreast with pedagogical principles that would enable the learners to develop to the fullest their potentials concomitant to a continuing pursuit of lifelong learning. A TED graduate should be able to:

  1. Articulate the rootedness of education in philosophical, socio-cultural, historical, psychological, and political contexts;
  2. Demonstrate mastery of subject matter/discipline;
  3. Facilitate learning using a wide range of teaching methodologies and delivery modes appropriate to specific learners and their environments;
  4. Develop innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, and resources for diverse learners;
  5. Apply skills in the developments and utilization of ICT to promote quality, relevant, and sustainable educational practices;
  6. Demonstrate a variety of thinking skills in planning, monitoring, assessing, and reporting learning processes and outcomes;
  7. Practice  professional and ethical teaching standards sensitive to the local, national, and global realities; and
  8. Pursue lifelong learning for personal and professional growth through varied experiential and field-based opportunities.

  • Develop innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, and resources for diverse learners with focus on the development of Competency-Based Curriculum and CompetencyBased Learning Materials in Technical-Vocational Education;
  • Apply skills in the development and utilization of ICT to promote quality, relevant, and sustainable educational practices;
  • Demonstrate a variety of thinking skills in planning, monitoring, assessing and reporting learning processes and outcomes;
  • Practice professional and ethical teaching standards responding to community, national, and global needs and realities; and

  • Nakagagamit ng iba-t ibang kasanayan at kaalaman sa proseso ng patuturopagkatuto;
  • Nagtataglay ng kaalaman hinggil sa usapin ng cultural at linggwistikang dibersidad ng bansa;
  • Nakapagdidisenyo ng malikhain, inobatibo at integratibong mga alternatibong dulog sa patututo at pagkatuto; at
