A recent article published in a Scopus-indexed journal last August 2020 highlights the advantages of working from home as an online freelancer.
The article entitled “From the corporate world to freelancing: the phenomenon of working from home in the Philippines,” is authored by Dr. Randy A. Tudy, a professor at Cor Jesu College, and is published in Community, Work, & Family Journal., a journal indexed in Scopus.
The study looked into the lived experiences among Filipino professionals who left their corporate job and chose to work from home as online freelancers. The study results found freedom, more time with the family, and flexibility as among the advantages of being a freelancer.
One participant cited in the study shared, “I can control my work schedule and my family’s needs, and my time with them can be prioritized. It has given me freedom, mobility freedom. I can work wherever I am as long as I have my cellular phone, laptop, and internet connection.”
The author concluded, “The prospects for Filipinos’ livelihood are vast and feasible in online freelancing, particularly during a pandemic.”
Dr. Tudy has written several articles related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of these articles are published in the Eubios Journal of Asian International Bioethics (EJAIB).
