Br. Polycarp Foundation Earthquake Relief

Under the leadership of Mrs. Maribel C. Guerra, the Brother Polycarp Foundation received overwhelming support from various private groups, organizations, and individuals to conduct a relief operation and medical mission for the locals of Brgy. Malawanit, municipality of Matanao, Davao del Sur. This area was one of the most devastated by the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Davao and Cotabato provinces in October 2019.


A total of 200 families in Brgy Malawanit, Magsaysay received goods and hygiene kits. Debriefing activities, play therapy, feeding and medical mission were integrated and we're successfully conducted. Benefactors of the relief operations were IPI-marketing department for the toys and hygiene kits, UP Epsilon Chi Fraternity for the goods and pails, Global Village Association, VINES, Digos Water District for the goods and other private individuals.

A total of 200 families in Brgy. Malawanit, Magsaysay, received goods and hygiene kits. The relief operation included debriefing activities, play therapy, feeding programs, and a medical mission. Benefactors included IPI Marketing Department for the toys and hygiene kits, UP Epsilon Chi Fraternity for the goods and pails, Global Village Association, VINES, and Digos Water District for the goods, along with other private individuals.

The Brother Polycarp Foundation extended its reach by partnering with more private organizations to assist other people displaced by the October 2019 earthquake. A total of 114 affected families from Brgy. Sinawilan, Digos City, received pails of goods from private groups and individuals. Professional guidance counselors conducted debriefing sessions, and play therapy was also facilitated.

Further relief operations were extended to Barangays Malawanit, Balnate, and Tagaytay in the municipality of Matanao, in collaboration with NGOs such as Shelter Box and Rotary International. Locals received shelter kits and solar lamps, with the majority of manpower provided by employees of Cor Jesu College.

The foundation also collaborated with the local health office to conduct relief operations in Brgy. Altavista, Brgy. Anonang, and Brgy. Managa in the municipality of Bansalan.

Earthquake victims from Barangay Aplaya, Digos City, received relief from the Brother Polycarp Foundation as well. Additionally, the foundation spearheaded relief operations in Brgy. Palili and Brgy. Harada Butai in the municipality of Padada, Davao del Sur, with support from private groups and individuals during the Christmas season.

Further relief operations were also led by the Brother Polycarp Foundation in Brgy. Guihing, municipality of Hagonoy, Davao del Sur.
