Typhoon Odette left many areas of Visayas and Mindanao devastated after it struck with extremely strong winds and rain during the Christmas season of 2021. Many people faced Christmas and New Year with nothing on their tables to share. The impact of the typhoon left many homeless and hopeless, as it not only destroyed their homes but also wiped out their sources of income.
Two months after the devastation, when sea travel had eased, the Cor Jesu College – Br. Polycarp Institute for Community Development Foundation Incorporated, led by Mrs. Maribel Guerra, organized a relief effort. Accompanied by some of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and staff from the Cor Jesu College Guidance and Counseling Center, the group sailed through Surigao Strait to Dinagat Islands. They brought relief goods and extended their help to the locals of Brgy. Mabini, municipality of Cagdianao, who were among the most affected by the typhoon.
