CJC Graduate School conducts online lecture series with a blast

The Graduate School of Cor Jesu College conducts online International Lecture Series today, September 20, 2020. The morning lectureship is a blast of information sponsored by Master of Arts in Education students major in Teaching English and participated by all MAED students together with the Graduate School administrators and instructors as well. The moderator of the program was Ms. Jennica Lyna Lanoza and it started with a prayer led by Mr. Ezekiel Capuyan followed by the audiovisual presentation of the National Anthem. An Opening Remarks was given by Dr. Randy A. Tudy, the Acting Dean of the Graduate School, and the speaker was introduced by Dr. Ida Gauran-Tudy, the Program Coordinator of MAED Teaching English.

Capturing Global Readership through Novelty in Scholarly Writing” is the title of the lecture of the distinguished speaker, Dr. Djuwari, the Head of Language Laboratory, STIE Perbanas Surabaya in Indonesia. He is the president of IASPER or International Association of Scholarly Publishers, Editors, and Reviewers. Dr. Djuwari has been a person with much accomplishments and achievements in his scholarly writings as he earned his studies from different immense institutions. His speaking engagement outlines the trend of academic journal publication, the scholarly writing and process of publication, measuring English before publication, paraphrasing tool, telling versus interpreting to get novelty, and plagiarism and citation.

An Open Forum is part of the program and some questions from the student-participants were being catered and answered well by the prominent speaker. The lecture was indeed a blast of information imparted to the graduate school students. Mr. James Jamero, one of the participants, shared his personal takeaway from the conference. “The topic of the lecture series shed light to the significance and development of academic writing particularly the readership of one’s paper. These conventions of scholastic writing empower us to be equipped with enough skills at par with the global standards,” he expressed.      

There were 85 participants who joined the teleconference through Google Meet platform and the student-participants were given e-certificates. The lecture ended very successful with lots of learning and acquired exquisite knowledge.
