CJC hauls 23 gold, 9 silver, 5 bronze medals in CEAP-Mindanao Games 2024

Coming from a victorious Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS) sports fest, the Cor Jesu College (CJC) once again emerged triumphant, bagging 23 gold, 9 silver, and 5 bronze medals across both in secondary and tertiary level after representing Region 11 in the recently concluded Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP)-Mindanao Games 2024, June 18-22, Surigao del Norte.


CJC made an impressive start as the Terpsicorean performing group immediately brought a gold in the Folk Dance Competition during the opening program.


Adding more championships to their tally, the Red Lions collected golds in Table Tennis (Men and Women), Chess (Men and Women), and four golds each in Taekwondo (Men and Women).


The CJC Men’s Volleyball team was a hairline shy away from gold same as with the Taekwondo Women who earned four silvers.


CJC displayed excellence not only in sports but also shone in the socio-cultural events, winning 2 bronze medals in Vocal Solo and Vocal Duet Competitions.


Moreover, the Red Cubs for the secondary level rose, collecting golds in
Basketball 3X3 Boys, Badminton Boys, Chess Boys, Swimming Girls, Taekwondo Boys, three golds in Taekwondo Girls, and the most thrilling huge championship for Basketball Boys after overcoming a double-digit deficit from Region 12 in the final few minutes of the match.


The Taekwondo Boys took home one silver while Taekwondo Girls had two.

Lastly, the lone representative of CJC in the Table Tennis Girls event claimed
bronze, teaming up with Ateneo de Davao University.


Undoubtedly, in any participated sports competition, CJC always prevails on top and rarely got left behind.


“The key to the success of all sports (competitions) that Cor Jesu College
participated is the program that Cor Jesu had in sports,” said the Taekwondo coach Magz Magdayao.


With the support of the institution for the varsity team, CJC has long been
successful in the Regional, Mindanao-wide events, and even in the National stage.


“The big hearts of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart to nurture our kids who love sports, especially those who have really exceptional skills,” Magdayao on the key instrument of CJC’s constant success in sports events.


Credits is also due to CJC Sports Coordinator Coach Patrick (Papat) Rodriguez
who has been orchestrating the whole varsity team for many years now.


The team is now gearing up for the National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) in July 20-26 in Legazpi City, Albay.
