CJC, LGU sign partnership pact for city-wide projects and activities

MoU Signing

The Local Government of Digos City and Cor Jesu College, Inc. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last January 15, 2021 to establish mutually beneficial collaborations to serve the constituents of the city.

The MoU seeks to implement projects and programs in various scopes and fields and to improve cooperation between the City Government of Digos headed by Hon. Mayor Josef Fortich Cagas and Hon Vice Mayor Johari Baña and Cor Jesu College, Inc. headed by Br.Ellakim P. Sosmeña, SC.

Some of the activities that are envisioned to be carried out as a product of this memorandum are the training for barangay and local government officials through short-term courses, development of techno-hub to train industry-ready workforce, design of public toilets within the city, improvement of the City Library, and some environmental projects to help the LGU achieve its vision of making Digos a “Green City.”

Other proposals for health, business, research, and skills and development are also arranged.

On one hand, according to Dr. Kirt Anthony R. Diaz, Vice President for Academic Affairs, the implementation of projects under MoU will allow Cor Jesians to practice what they have learned in the classroom. On the other hand, faculty and administrators can also practice their professional expertise.

“On the part of Cor Jesu College, this MoU will benefit us because it will allow students and faculty to apply their knowledge and skills that they have gained from training,” said Diaz.

Cor Jesu College will be able to take its part of helping the City Government achieve its vision, mission, and goals.

“We can be an additional manpower of the LGU that will work on the ground to help carry out plans and projects to improve the lives of the Digoseños,” Diaz added.
