CJC Tops DACUN Regional Student Research Congress

Student researchers from Cor Jesu College (CJC) garnered several awards during the recent Davao City Regional Student Research Congress held at the University of Immaculate Conception last February 27, 2015.

The Research Congress was sponsored by the Davao Colleges and Universities Network, Inc. (DACUN).

Angel Rose Timtim presented her study on the Untold Stories of Kalagans to the highest  level. Jerlyn Buscato wowed the judges when she presented her study on Total Quality Management Practices of Nakayama Workers and Rodielyn Yu flawlessly presented her paper on Employees’ Job Satisfaction and Company’s Decision in Recruitment and Selection.

In Education 1 stream, the research paper entitled Communication Strategies and Speaking Proficiency in English among Education Students authored by Lyka Mae S. Abadilla, Clecel-Jean P. Aniñon, and Kim Rodel C. Camillo won 1st Runner-up (Best Abstract). In Social Science stream, research work on The Untold Stories of Kalagans authored by Shara D. Cirunay, Merlisalyn P. Salado and Angel Rose L. Timtim also grabbed 1st Runner-up.

During the awarding ceremony, Cor Jesians walked the hallway victoriously. Three (3) Cor Jesians namely, Angel Rose Timtim, Jerlyn Buscato and Rodielyn Yu occupied the top spots  and were declared champions (Diamond Award) in their respective streams as Best Research Presenters.

 In Education 2 stream, work on Conversational Maxims in Pinoy Teleserye: A Discourse Analysis authored by Deutsche Mark  L. Cuyno, Lorafe M. Manapol and Richelle Anne R. Tecson also got nods from the judges and placed 2nd Runner-up (Best Abstract).

The Best Research Presenter Platinum Awardees were Ruffa Calamohoy with her study on Profitability of Hardware Stores in Digos City and Noreen Tinagsa who presented her study on the Perception on the Utilization of the Division of Business and Accountancy (DBA) Students Fund.  Ena Jill Cavalida who tackled Organizational Performance of CDR-King and Octagon and Ryan Anthony Sumaljag  on the Factors Affecting Teacher’s Retention in Higher Educational Institution also made it big with Best Research Presenter Gold awards.

Cor Jesians competed in different streams: Education, Business Management, Social Science, and Humanities. Aris Joy Porquiado, Richelle Anne Tecson, Kim Rodel Camillo, Daisy Villanueva and Ryan Anthony Sumalhag competed in the Education stream. Noreen Abadilla Tinagsa, Ruffa Calamohoy, Rodielyn Yu, Ena Jill Cavalida, Jolly Bee Cuenca were in the Business Management stream. Angel Rose Timtim, Marie Ellaine Joy Abayon, and Jerlyn Busaco were in the Social Science stream. Herbert Barba was in the Humanities stream.

 The CJC participants prepared hard for this through the tutelage of Dr. Randy Tudy, Mr. Lemuel Sayao, Dr. Erikka June Forosuelo, Dr. Hermogenes Orion and Mrs. Lourdes Pelarion. These well-respected mentors from CJC’s academic community relentlessly spent their time and effort to guide these participants in preparation for this big event in student research.

This annual gathering of student researchers had this theme: “Excellence in Students Research: Key to Global Progress.”Ena Jill Cavalida
