Dr. Leticia A. Cansancio was awarded as an Outstanding Academic/Research Librarian Award by the Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians, Inc. during its General Assembly held last January 29, 2016 at Far Eastern University, Sampaloc, Manila.
Dr. Cansancio was credited for her exemplary performance, achievements, and worthy contributions to the development of the Cor Jesu College Library. She was also cited for her continuous efforts in facilitating the research works of faculty, students and researchers through the various programs of the library and outstanding contributions in the field of academic and research librarianship in her various capacity as resource speaker, organizer of continuing professional development programs and as officer of different library associations.
She is currently the Director of Library and Information Resource Center (LIRC) of Cor Jesu College (CJC), Digos City, Philippines. She has served CJC for the past 44 years. As an active librarian, she serves as the president of Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. Region XI.
“I was so happy. Actually, I had mixed feelings because I was recognized for my efforts and achievements. I am fulfilled by this profession of mine because of this award,” Dr. Cansancio proudly shared.
The whole Cor Jesu College community rejoiced with Dr. Cansancio on her achievement. “I am very proud for Dr. Cansancio. She shares the same passion with me as a librarian. She is really one of a kind,” Ms. Jennifer Maghanoy, Circulation Librarian of CJC, commented.
Dr. Cansancion is a professor in the undergraduate and graduate levels teaching library and information subjects. “She is excellent. She has the ability and characteristics to receive such award.
