As part of the partnership between Cor Jesu College and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malalag, Davao del Sur, five project proposals were presented by the engineering students of Cor Jesu College to local officials headed by Hon. Mayor Peter Paul T. Valentin last April 20, 2018.
In his message, the mayor was grateful to Cor Jesu College and the students for doing such researches which are helpful to the municipality. “I would like to thank Cor Jesu College and I hope this partnership will continue,” the mayor said while stressing the needs for the support of CJC for the LGU’s continued growth. The mayor also asked the students to come back and receive incentives he will give. Additionally, the students will also be honoured during the Gabi ng Parangal during its Araw ng Malalag 2018 celebration in May.
These projects were a product of the partnership between Cor Jesu College and LGU Malalag which was formalized in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding last August 24, 2017.
The project proposals aimed to help the locality as the LGU is gearing for its active response to the national thrusts of further development.
The first proposal was entitled “Proposed Construction of Malalag Coastal Road at Junction Malalag – Malalag Port Road – Malalag Bay Coast – Sitio Bolo, Bulacan, Bulacan, Malalag Davao del Sur.” The proponents of this project were Home Kit Abanid, Jivson Buaya, Scarlet Jane Davide, Angelica Estabillo, Jonnah Mae Loang, and Willian Tin-ao, Jr.
The second project was to augment the water supply of the LGU. It was entitle “Conceptualization and Development of Water Supply Facility” proposed by Jaynel Bryan Alferez, Beverly Dagcuta, Domini Flores, John Eduard Gallego, Carlmar Niervas, and Rommel Ar-ar Legresso.
The third project was focused on the development of a modern public market. The Project was a “Proposed Redevelopment of Malalag Farmers Market and Business Center.” The researchers for this project were Lou Vincent Bucog, Jessa Elaine Eltagonde, Mark Dave Jumawan, Lord John Michael Mejares, Dan Huseein Roman, Princess Guinevere Villeta, and Reymark Garces.
The fourth project was “Feasibility Study and Design Plan on the Establishment of Roll On – Roll Off Terminal in the Municipality of Malalag.” The researchers were Billjan Causing, Michael John Enfesta, Abigail Lumangtad, Marel Mainit, Pauline Joffer Paraiso, and Tom Jelix Te.
The fifth project was “Proposed One – Stop Shop Government Center in Malalag, Davao del Sur” and the researchers were Angelica Almacin, Jeferson Descartin, Nick Ronald Diez, Cahree Lasib, Ramoncito Maribao, Jr., Brassim Saidul, Merjerie Tabanao, and Key Marie Tuliao.
After each presentation, there was an open forum where the officials and LGU representatives asked for clarifications and gave some suggestions.
The student-researchers were accompanied by their adviser, Engr. Amie Lou G. Cisneros, MSCE and the dean of the College of Engineering and Technology, Engr. Jonas M. Placer, ME. Other school administrators were also present such as Dr. Alex D. Niez, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Randy A. Tudy, Director of Research and Publication Office (RPO), and Mr. Cesar Tescon, MIT, Program of Head Computer Science and Information Technology.
