Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRT) will soon be offered as the newest program added under the Health Sciences department, in addition to Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery.
The school already forwarded the application to the office of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and waiting for the approval. As a preparation, the school will prioritize the renovation of the Cor Jesu College Sto. Rosario campus, where the Department of Health Sciences campus is located.
The proposed new building will house the Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Anatomy, Microbiology, Fundamental, Xray, Ultrasound, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microscopy, Immunohematology laboratories.
The Radiologic Technology program is a 4-year course and is part of the allied health profession where the students can be trained to manipulate radiation-emitting machines such as digital X-ray, Mammogram, computed tomography scan (CT-Scan), and other imaging modalities like ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The students can also be acquainted with Radiation Therapy and Nuclear Medicine machines for therapeutic purposes.
Radiologic Technology as a profession opens a lot of careers and opportunities both in the academe and medical field. It is usually dubbed as “the eye of medicine” where technologists, by acquiring medical images, help physicians to diagnose certain pathological conditions.
Mark Tito Soroan III, program head of the Radiologic Technology, expressed “I am proud to be among of the pioneering faculty of the Radiologic Technology Program of Cor Jesu College Inc. To be able to teach young minds to become future health front liners to serve a great purpose is an honor”
